Highlands Park dented Bidvest Wits’ hopes of playing catch up to log leaders Kaizer Chiefs when the spoils were shared following a two all draw at the Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday evening in an Absa Premiership fixture.

Highlands took the match to the hosts and stretched them through playing the ball  into wide areas in the premise stages of the match. Wits gave in eventually as Luckyboy Mokoena managed to swing an amazing cross into the hosts box finding Mothobi Mvala at the last post to find the opener for Highlands.

The hosts pulled one back just before halftime when Domingo strike from the edge of the box deflected past Marlon Heugh, equalising for the hosts. In the second half both teams made a few subs.

Wits went into the lead minutes five minutes after first half when Thulani Hlatshwayo’s effort went past Heugh following a square ball. Substitute Sameehg Doutie had the opportunity to seal matters for the hosts but his effort was well handled by Heugh.

With only three minutes from time, Highlands found the equaliser when scorer Peter Shalulile was brought down in the box and successfully slotted home to level up away.

The encounter went into full time at two all and Wits were denied a leap to fourth on the league standings.
